Agren PALMETTO, FLA. – Team Pelfrey concluded a sensational year in the hotly contested F1600 Championship Series by claiming a pair of race wins and the championship crown last weekend at the famed Watkins Glen International road course in Upstate New York. Ayla Agren, from Norway, and Garth Rickards, from Mechanicsburg, Pa., shared the wins, with Agren securing the championship by virtue of a last-lap pass for the victory on Sunday.

Agren took the 2014 title with an epic drive at Watkins GlenWatkins Glen, NY – Ayla Agren found a way past Sam Chastain at the last second on the last lap to take her third win of the 2014 F1600 season and more importantly, clinch the 2014 title. Agren, from Norway, bounced back after a rough Saturday in the No. 81 Mygale/Honda that saw her lose the points lead to her Team Pelfrey teammate Garth Rickards, who finished fifth on Sunday. Sam Chastain and Augie Lerch completed the podium in race two/round 14 of the season at Watkins Glen.

Ayla AgrenWatkins Glen, NY – The Championship lead for Garth Rickards is down to five points as Ayla Agren took pole position and three bonus points for the final round of the 2014 F1600 Formula F Championship Series season. Augie Lerch qualified second and Garth Rickards with third, with Andrew Hobbs and Sam Chastain completing the top five. Check out the full results here.

Garth RickardsWatkins Glen , NY – F1600 Formula F Championship Series officials have penalized Evan Mehan 10 seconds following race one of the weekend at Watkins Glen (round 13) due to driving conduct. Mehan’s new finishing position is 11th. This will promote Garth Rickards to the first position, adding points for the win as well, and will also move up various other Championship contenders, including Ayla Agren, to fifth. Mehan will not race on Sunday. New results are posted here.

Evan MehanWatkins Glen, NY – Evan Mehan won a race that saw a lead pack of 11 cars trade the lead back and forth until the Chastain Motorsports driver was able to separate himself from the group to take his second victory of the 2014 F1600 Formula F Championship Series at Watkins Glen International. Finishing second, setting fast lap and re-taking the points lead was Garth Rickards – who now leads the Championship by a single point over Ayla Agren going into the final race of the season on Sunday. Augie Lerch finished third.

Nikita LastochkinWatkins Glen, NY – Nikita Lastochkin took pole with a new track record for race one of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series weekend at Watkins Glen, with a stunning lap time of1:56.791. Championship leader Ayla Agren missed pole by .008 seconds and will start second ahead of Chastain Motorsports’ teammates Sam Chastain and Evan Mehan. The top nine cars were under the track record.
