The ultra-competitive Championship featuring close racing will kick off in April in Virginia, before heading to Road Atlanta for the first time, followed by Lime Rock, and two trips to the tricky Mid-Ohio road course before the season finale at Summit Point.

The 2012 season came to a dramatic close, with Matias Koykka edging Brandon Newey for the Championship. Both of their teams – Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing and Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb/ Agajanian are expected back: the Capes with the fast Spectrum chassis from Australia and Herta running a number of Mygales. Both teams have Honda power.

VIRginia International Raceway kicks off the tour, April 11-14, before a highly anticipated visit to Road Atlanta with Formula Drift, May 9-11.

Both weekends will feature F1600’s “big-brother,” with F2000 also contesting doubleheader events.

Like in 2012, F1600 then goes north for a two-day event at Connecticut’s “bull-ring,” Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day weekend, along with F2000 and Trans-Am.

Not on the schedule for the first time will be Watkins Glen, due to age restrictions.

Two months off leads into the final leg of the season, with three races scheduled in just five weeks to close out the year.

The 2.25 mile, 10-turn Mid-Ohio circuit will welcome two F1600 weekends along with the F2000 Series. The first, July 26-28, before a brief weekend off, and then it’s back to Mid-Ohio, August 9-11.

With five weekends and 10 races in the books by August 11, a season finale showdown will be set up for the end of August at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia, August 23-25, for both F1600 and F2000, with the Series awards ceremony following on Sunday night, August 25.

With the schedule now set, teams can look forward to their usual high dosage of track time from the Series, which will include test days at various weekends, to be announced in the coming weeks.
